In March 2020, we made the difficult decision to close the railway due to the emerging Coronavirus pandemic.
We are now in a position to re-open the railway, on Sunday 26th July 2020. We will then be open every Sunday until further notice, and every Wednesday in August.
There are obviously a number of changes that we've needed to make, if you're planning on visiting us in the next few weeks, please read the info below:
There will be a new queuing system in place. To help observe social distancing, the floor will be marked at 2 metre intervals.
One family will be allowed into the ticket office at a time to purchase their tickets. Only single journey tickets may be purchased at the ticket office. We will not be issuing any new multi-saver tickets. If you have a multi-saver ticket that you have purchased previously, you can still use that and it will be punched by the Ticket Office. Contactless payments are preferred.
When the train is ready, each family will be allowed to board the train, one family at a time, from the front carriage and working backwards. Our covered carriages at the front of the train have room for two families in each of them, where there are potective screens between compartments. The open carriage is designed for one family, but could take two families of 2 people if the middle compartment is left empty. The rear carriage is alloacated for one family and our Guard.
On return to the station, families will be invited to leave the train starting from the rear compartment and exiting by the dedicated exit route, again one family at a time.
The train will be disinfected between each journey and hand sanitiser is available in the ticket office if required.
